Statue of Mary
Meet me at the Statue of Mary...
A common gathering point, the Statue of Mary has long been at the heart of the Star campus.
Under the watchful gaze and outstretched arms of Mary, Star of the Sea, students and staff have moved about their daily routines.
Mystery and rumour surround Mary’s crown of stars with some reporting that they were stolen in the 1960s.
Girls gather at the statue before they head off to Sacred Heart Mission or teachers have a quick catch-up with students at recess or lunchtime.
This traditional-style statue is near the more contemporary Love in Action sculpture.
Both works deepen our appreciation of the place of Mary as the Mother of God and the First Disciple in our heritage and ongoing story.
