The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) Program is offered as an alternative Senior Studies pathway at Star of the Sea College
The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) Program is offered as a Senior School Certification at Star of the Sea College.
The VCAL program is designed for students who are applied learners and are interested in acquiring work and study skills in a relevant context, customised to their interests and goals.
A combination of VCAL specific subjects including Personal Development Skills, Work Related Skills, Literacy and Numeracy with internal and external VET (Vocational Education and Training) certifications and Industry Placement blocks, contribute to a student’s VCAL program.
The pathways available beyond Year 12 are tertiary studies or employment, or a combination of both. A student's directions beyond Year 12 are decided upon via a consultative process with the VCAL Leader, the Careers Leader and the skilled personnel available to students and their families in this phase of senior school education.
We currently offer Intermediate and Senior VCAL programs at the College across Years 11 and 12.
Entry into VCAL is via an application to enrol and and interview.
