Giving at Star

At Star of the Sea College, we are proud to carry forward the Presentation tradition of ‘Facta non Verba’ – Deeds, not Words. Inspired by the compassionate action and integrity of our founder Nano Nagle, we continue to shape young people who will go out into the world with purpose, courage, and a commitment to justice.

Your support plays a vital role in this mission.

While tuition fees and government grants cover operational costs, philanthropic support allows us to go further — creating transformative opportunities for our students and building a future where excellence, equity, and innovation thrive.

Whether through a one-off donation, regular giving, or a gift in your Will, every contribution makes a difference.

1. Bursary Fund – The Gift of Education

The Bursary Fund helps ensure that a Star education is accessible to families experiencing financial difficulty. Your donation may assist:

  • Current families facing sudden or unforeseen financial challenges
  • New families unable to afford enrolment, including those with a past connection to Star

All bursaries are allocated confidentially by our Bursary Committee.

Your gift opens doors — and changes lives.

2. Building Fund – Building Our Future

Our buildings reflect the spirit of our learning community — and your support brings them to life.

Donations to the Building Fund help us deliver on our 20-Year College Master Plan, ensuring our students have access to innovative, inspiring, and sustainable spaces for generations to come.

Having recently completed the award-winning refurbishment of the Heritage Building, we now look ahead to the next stage of our vision.

All donations over $2.00 are tax-deductible within Australia.

3. The Estella Society Bequest Program – Leaving a Legacy

Including Star of the Sea College in your Will is a deeply meaningful way to support future generations.

By making a bequest, you ensure our facilities, programs, and values continue to flourish — preserving the legacy of the Presentation Sisters, and helping us respond to the evolving needs of students.

When you let us know of your intention, you’ll be invited to join the Estella Society, named after the Latin word for Star. This society honours those who have committed to our future and provides opportunities for connection and recognition — or quiet, anonymous giving if you prefer.

As a member of the Estella Society, you will:

  • Help students from all backgrounds thrive at Star
  • Support the development of new learning spaces and technologies
  • Strengthen the Presentation values of compassion, justice, and excellence
  • Be remembered for your enduring contribution to the Star community

“As a proud past student, former Board member, and Past Students’ Association Committee member, I am proud to leave a bequest that will enable future generations to receive an education that fulfils the vision of the Presentation Sisters.”
Susan Renouf (Class of 1964), Member of the Estella Society

4. Giving Day

Each year in June, Star holds its annual Giving Day, a special event where our College community comes together and raises money for programs and initiatives that make a significant impact on the educational journey of our students.

All gifts over $2.00 are tax deductible within Australia.
