Events

We warmly invite you to join us at our special events throughout the year. Whether you come with friends or take the opportunity to connect with new faces in the Star community, each gathering is a chance to relive memories, create new ones, and be inspired by fellow past students as we celebrate together. We look forward to seeing you there!

Stars Speak

Our Stars Speak series has seen a range of inspirational past students return to the College and share their stories. Over the years, we have been fortunate to have many interesting speakers entertain the crowds, including:

Shelley Reys AO (1984) – Leader in corporate, Indigenous and reconciliation spaces

Bayley Misfud (Merindah-Gunya, 2016) – Contemporary Aboriginal artist

Jenny Cooney (1980) – Reporter to the stars

Nellie Kerrison (1991) – Owner of Relish Mama cooking school

Gina Liano (1983) – Television personality and barrister

Genevieve Bailey (2009) – Filmmaker (I Am Eleven, Happy Sad Man)

Kate Kennedy AM (1985) – Human rights activist

Mass of Remembrance

Each November, Star of the Sea College gathers for a heartfelt ‘Mass of Remembrance’ in the Star Chapel, honoring the cherished members of our community who have gone before us. This meaningful service, shared among a compassionate and supportive community, includes the lighting of individual candles in memory of those we have lost, accompanied by songs as a beautiful tribute.

The Star Community Choir joins us in making this a deeply moving annual tradition. After the service, all are warmly invited to afternoon tea in the Sandra Diafas Staffroom, adjacent to the Chapel.

Reunions

Reunions are a great way to catch up with old friends and reconnect. Star of the Sea College hosts a range of reunions every year. Starting with an initial reunion for students who finished one year earlier, reunions are also organised for students celebrating their decade milestones – 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 years.

A special reunion is also held each year for anyone who left Star more than 50 years ago. The ‘More than 50 Years’ reunion is always well attended and held at the College during the school week.

All past student reunions are listed here.
