The Estella Society Bequest Program

Leaving a Legacy

Including Star of the Sea College in your Will is a deeply meaningful way to support future generations. By making a bequest, you ensure our values, programs, and facilities continue to flourish — preserving the legacy of the Presentation Sisters while helping us meet the evolving needs of young people.

Whether your gift is large or small, your generosity will be honoured, appreciated, and felt for generations to come.

The Power of Your Legacy

Since 1883, Star of the Sea College has empowered young women to live with courage, compassion, and a commitment to action — Facta non Verba.

The continued generosity of our past students, families, and community has enabled thousands of students to thrive. Today, more than ever, bequests are a vital and practical way to ensure our College continues to:

  • Provide bursaries for students from diverse backgrounds
  • Enhance and maintain our beautiful Martin Street campus
  • Equip learning spaces with modern technologies
  • Uphold our core Presentation values: compassion, justice, and excellence

Join The Estella Society

When you inform us of your bequest, you’ll be invited to join The Estella Society, named after the Latin word for Star. This society honours those who have made a lasting commitment to the future of Star of the Sea College.

As a member of The Estella Society, you will:

  • Help shape the future of Star through enduring generosity
  • Be recognised and thanked (or remain anonymous if preferred)
  • Receive invitations to special events and College updates
  • Join a legacy of changemakers committed to girls’ education

“As a proud past student, former Board member, and Past Students’ Association Committee member, I am proud to leave a bequest that will enable future generations to receive an education that fulfils the vision of the Presentation Sisters.”
Susan Renouf (Class of 1964), Founding Member of The Estella Society

How to Leave a Bequest to Star

Including Star of the Sea College in your Will is simple and can be tailored to your circumstances and wishes.

Steps to Consider:

  1. Discuss your intentions with your family
  2. Seek advice from your solicitor or financial advisor
  3. Nominate Star in your Will as a beneficiary — with a specific amount, percentage, or gift in kind
  4. Choose your purpose — bursaries, building projects, general support, or unrestricted
  5. Update your Will or add a codicil

Note: Even modest gifts are valuable. A percentage bequest is often easier to manage and retains its value over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my bequest still valuable if it’s small?
Yes — even small gifts grow in impact and are deeply appreciated.

Can I choose how my gift is used?
Absolutely. You may designate your bequest for bursaries, buildings, or let the College decide based on emerging needs.

Can I remain anonymous?
Yes. Just let us know — we respect your privacy at all times.

Can I change my mind later?
Yes. Bequests can be amended at any time by updating your Will.

Are there tax benefits?
Possibly. As Star is a not-for-profit, your bequest may reduce the taxable value of your estate. Please speak with your advisor.
