Star of the Sea College proudly launched Star Live!, a dynamic Leadership Podcast Series produced and hosted by our 2025 College Leaders.
This five-part series features compelling interviews with some of Australia’s most respected voices in leadership, spanning education, media, social justice, and community sport. Our impressive guest lineup includes Jo Stanley (CEO, Broad Radio), Professor Mary Coloe pbvm, Bernadene Voss (CEO, Big Group Hug), Michelle Barry (Executive Officer, Girls Sport Victoria), and Julia Fullard (Southside Justice).
To celebrate the launch, students and staff were invited to attend lunchtime screenings held in the Rosalie Jones Lecture Theatre throughout the week. Each session offered a unique opportunity to hear from these changemakers and the student interviewers who led the conversations. The podcasts were also played in the Kildare Cafe (with subtitles) and broadcast each evening on LIVE FM — a global, 24-hour radio platform championing student voice in schools — allowing families and the broader Star community to tune in from home.
The podcast project was made possible through an inspiring one-day workshop led by Ralph Barba, Executive Producer at LIVE FM. Through team-building exercises and creative activities — including speed interviewing and peer reflection — students explored the power of individual contribution. One powerful moment came when students were asked to name the strengths they saw in one another. Many were deeply moved by the responses, fostering mutual respect and confidence. This process not only equipped them with practical interviewing skills but also empowered them to own their unique voices.
By the time our guest leaders arrived for their recordings, the transformation was evident. Guests were struck by the students’ professionalism, thoughtful research, and insightful questioning. The result? Five extraordinary interviews that are as inspiring as they are thought-provoking — a testament to the leadership potential within every student.
