Donations to the Star of the Sea College Bursary Fund can be life changing. The Bursary Fund recently received a generous $15,000 donation from past student Judith Hammond to cover the fees and associated costs for one student to attend the College for a year.

Judith, who attended Star in the 1950s, sees her contribution as a thank you to the sisters, especially Mother Eymard, for the ‘wonderful and inspired education which led to my career in science.’

Judith’s illustrious medical laboratory science career culminated in a PhD from Wollongong University and heading the NSW Department of Biochemical Genetics until 2003. She’s very grateful for the support of Star and particularly the Presentation Sisters who gave her free schooling when her parents couldn’t afford the fees or books. The College thanks Judith for her generosity. #sotsc #staroftheseacollege #bursaryfund #thankyou

"One Step Beyond" was the theme for the 2023 Year 7 Reflection Day, inviting students to see opportunities to live the gospel in ordinary situations everyday. Students were inspired by Catholic international humanitarian Ms Moira Kelly OA and the many real stories she shared with us. Students met with Angel, one of the children under Moira's care. Other parts of the day included Lanterns of Promise, Games of Purpose by Think Set Go focussing on teamwork and collaboration when solving problems and creating Heartstars for Star's new pocket heart hugs program. The Year 7s finished the day with meditation and a brief closing liturgy. ... See MoreSee Less
