Star of the Sea College: 1883 – 1983
To preserve its legacy and celebrate the rich heritage of the College, Star has published a number of publications covering specific periods of time.
Star of the Sea College: 1883-1983 captures the first 100 years of Star of the Sea College. It includes a letter from Archbishop James Goold, who was the first Archbishop of Melbourne from 1851-1886. The letter is transcribed below.
Dear Rev. Mother,
I am glad to learn that you have at last found a resting place and in a mission under the prudent care of Fr. Carey – your presence in Brighton assisted as you will be by able and zealous sisters will be a great blessing to children and people on your pious undertaking, I bestow from my heart a blessing and a prayer.
