Music

‘Where words fail, music speaks.’
— Hans Christian Andersen

The Music School at Star of the Sea College is a vibrant and rich creative community, designed to offer students a variety of musical pathways. Our multifaceted program provides diverse opportunities to the musically inclined, including instrumental lessons, musical ensembles, speech and drama, Stacella choral program and Irish dancing.

The Music School is a warm and welcoming environment where students can participate in music and dance ensembles, providing a great way to meet fellow students while developing resilience and confidence. These ensembles include:

  • Concert band
  • Junior band
  • Stage band
  • Show band
  • String ensemble
  • Guitar ensemble
  • Piano ensemble
  • Stacella choir
  • Irish dancing

Students in the Music School participate in many performances, camps and competitions throughout the school year, which always encourage them to fulfil their musical potential. One of the first exciting events for Year 7s is the Music Festival in Term 1, a House competition run by our senior music captains that culminates in a performance at The Plenary, Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Star of the Sea College provides an excellent opportunity to experience high-quality musical programs that will optimise your secondary school experience.
