At Star of the Sea College, student leadership is built upon the guiding principles of gospel values and Presentation charism. Students are encouraged to lead through service to others rather than self-promotion.

All leadership is linked with promoting social justice within and outside the College, and leaders are to present themselves as positive role models at all times. Each student has an opportunity to develop their innate leadership abilities through the structure of elected positions of responsibility across the year levels and Houses.
Through these positions, students learn how both power and control carry significant responsibility for the whole community.
Years 11 and 12 College and House Leader Positions
Leadership positions in Years 11 and 12 are determined by both elections and appointments.
Each House has the following Leadership positions:

House Leaders are supported by the following Activity Leaders:

Year 7 to 9
In Years 7 to 9, Class Captains are elected each semester.
Student Representative Council
Student voice is extremely important at Star. In addition to the above positions, the Student Representative Council (SRC) allows students to mix with one another and be agents of change within the College. The SRC is made up of the following students:
- Chairperson, Year 12
- Three Year 11 students
- Four Year 10 students; one per House
- Three Year 9 students
- Three Year 8 students
- Three Year 7 students
